Everyone is doing their best to help and protect the environment in the same league, and now Temple of Lord Venkateswara at Tirupati, has joined hands to follow environmentally friendly packaging practices, distributes Laddus Prasadam, in jute bags instead of plastic bags. This step has been taken against worsening climatic conditions that are making the soil, water and air toxic.
The jute bag initiative
If the news is to be believed, Mandir Trust Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has joined hands with Aditya Birla Group Company and Jute Corporation of India (JCI) to handle the pilot project, where they will distribute Laddoo Prasadam in 100% recycled aluminum foil. Laminated Jute Bag.
Price Escalation
According to reports, the price of laminated foil bags rages from Rs 25-50 per bag, and are much more expensive than polyethylene and paper bags.
Response
As per the statement of the Jute Corporation of India, they have sold more than 3 lakh bags in the last two months and also opened a distribution counter for the sale of jute foil lamination bags in the temple premises.
Authorization
As per the statement of JCI Chairman and Managing Director, the initiative will benefit the environment and will also help creating employment opportunities for thousands of artisans in and around Tirupati, Telangana and Kolkata. The sale of these bags in the temple is expected to fetch a revenue of Rs 50 crore per year from the management body, as the temple sells a minimum of 3.5-4 lakh laddus every day.
