Replicas of 51 Shakti Peethas to be built at Tripura
Tripura state government has come with a plan to build replicas of revered 51 Shakti Peethas in the district of Gomati. For the purpose, the state has already allocated 14.22 acres of land at Fulkumari Mouja in Udaipur sub-division of Gomati district.
There are 51 Shakti Peethas, which are scattered across India and neighbouring countries. Most of these are in India, while six are in Bangladesh, three in Nepal, two in Pakistan, one each in Tibet and Srilanka. In India, 11 Shakti Peethas are in West Bengal alone while others are located all over the country.
It is quite difficult to visit all the 51 Shakti Peethas for a common man, so Tripura Government has come forward with the new initiative. Now, the tourism department is planning to implement their plan of building exact replicas of all Shakti Peethas, to make it easier for devotees to pay a visit. These replicas would be constructed near the Tripurasundari Matabari Temple.
The government hopes that tourism will be boost up in the state with this measure. The location proposed by the state is about 3 km from the Tripurasundari Temple in Fulkumari village , is set on the Udaipur Amarpur Road in Tripura.
The department of tourism has also come forward with a preliminary project report, which reflects that around INR 44 crores will be required in the development of replicas of 51 Shakti Peethas and the proposal has been sent to the 15th Finance Commission to seek funding. The entire work will be carried out by the tourism department and funds will be provided under the Swadesh Darshan scheme.
