The Gujarat government has suspended the helicopter service at the Statue of Unity. It has been closed due to panic among the creatures of Safari Park because of sound of helicopter. The helipad will be shifted some where else and only then helicopter service will be restored for tourists.
The Statue of Unity has attracted tourists from all over the world. It has a special place in the tourist destinations of the world. Thousands of tourists come here every day. Helicopter service has been started here to see the aerial view of the Statue of Unity. But the service has been stopped from Wednesday 9 October.
Stating the reasons, Secretary Rajiv Gupta said that a safari park has been developed here and a large number of tourists are attracted to see this also. But due to the hoarse sound of landing and flight of the helicopter, a chaos is created among the animals and they get terrorized. Therefore, construction of another helipad near Safari Park will be done very soon. It has been closed only in view of safety of the creatures of the Safari Park. It is possible that a new helipad will be ready within a week and only then helicopter facility will be restored.
It is worthwhile to note that the Statue of Unity has been built in memory of the iron man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel near Sardar Sarovar Dam in Kevadia in Narmada district of Gujarat. The 182 meter statue of Sardar Patel is the tallest statue in the world. Everyone wants to see the world’s largest statue (Statue of Unity) from very close and that is why Gujarat government has arranged the helicopter service.
