Free SriLankan Visa For Indians
Sri Lanka stopped the grant of a free visa after the bombing in April 2019 last year in which around 258 people were killed.
If you are planning to visit Sri Lanka on the eve of the new year, then there is good news for you. Yes, if you have an Indian passport, then Sri Lanka plans to grant a free Visa on Arrival. Sri Lanka has recently extended the last date of the scheme for citizens of 48 countries to 30 April.
It was announced by Sri Lankan Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga. This step has been taken to revive the country’s tourism, which was badly affected due to bombings on Easter Sunday
Sri Lanka called off its plan to grant free visas in April 2019 of last year following the bombing in which around 258 people were killed. The free visa facility was suspended for about 39 countries.
Let us tell you that this step has been taken to encourage tourism after the terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka last year on Easter. Sri Lanka resumed the scheme from August after stopping the free visa and China and India were also added to these countries. Ranatunga said, “We have decided to increase the facility on request of various concerned parties. Cabinet documents will be presented regarding this.” Tourism contributes five percent of Sri Lanka’s gross domestic product (GDP) account.
